Wishful Thinking shares projects that catch my eye — and their likelihood of completion.
The Sorbetto top.
Anyhoo, I like tank tops, and free is fab in my book, so I downloaded the PDF with optimism.
Why I like it:
- I like bias trim
.
- This would be cute tucked in a high-waisted skirt
or untucked with shorts
.
- Versatility! I could see multiple versions of this top — a silk
or charmeuse
for work, a ditzy cotton print
for play.
- It looks cool, like temperature-wise cool. I can practically feel a breeze pass through it.
- The pattern is a stash buster, which makes a sewer feel a wee bit self-congratulatory.
My construction specifications:
- In the spirit of stash busting, I would make the tank in the lightweight cotton of which I made my kitchen valances. The fabric is white with a tiny, textured pattern.
- I am considering contrasting thread
and/or bias trim.
- Anything I make these days MUST be washable (I'm spit up on with great regularity) and breastfeeding friendly.
Wearing scenario:
The reality:
- The cotton is washed. The biggest obstacle at this point is printing the pattern. I have the necessary notions (save maybe contrasting thread/trim).
Likelihood of completion (10 = it's practically making itself; 1 = never ever):
- I give this an 8. I really think I'll make it, but I need to work on the jogging stroller first (or at least get the jogging stroller started). I think if I work on this tank piecemeal (which is the only way I work on anything with a baby to care for), I could finish it in a week or so. I should get on it, though, so I have lots of summer left to wear it!
